Pawleys Island is one of America's oldest beach towns, dating back to the 1700s. 70 miles north of Charleston and 25 miles south of Myrtle Beach, Pawleys Island is in the middle of everything in South Carolina. Rice farmers first settled Pawleys Island with the knowledge that living by the seashore was much better for their health. They stayed from May to November, thereby becoming the Grand Strand's first summer vacationers!
